One of the most obvious differences between real estate in Quebec's larger cities and those in Ontario is the European influence that is still everywhere in Quebec. There seems to be more of a devotion to historical buildings in Montreal and Quebec City, with still lots of brick buildings on narrow streets. There is a combination between planned neighbourhoods where many of the homes look the same and streets with more unique homes.
Moving into the country, Quebec has the addition of the chalet-style home, which you will not find much of in Ontario. These are of course usually found around the base of ski hills but can also be found elsewhere in the province, as they are designed for heavy snowfalls. Gatineau is so close to the Ontario border that there seems to be a fusion between the two province's home styles. If you are moving to this area, there's a very good chance that you can find any style of home you are looking for.
