Public Services

When you move to a new city, you are naturally curious as to the different public services and community organizations that city provides for its residences. Owners of Gatineau Quebec real estate will be delighted with the wide range of services and facilities available thanks to municipal funding in their city. We will take a look at some of these below.

Ecocentre

While most communities have landfills, the city of Gatineau runs a state of the art, green focused municipal waste facility called the ecocentre. Here, residents and businesses may dispose of their household and hazardous waste in such a way that it is properly handled, free of hazards to citizens and to the environment.

Cynical Orange County bankruptcy attorneys will tell you that nothing in life is free, and that's true of the ecocentre in Gatineau. It does cost money to drop off your waste, but with subsidies for organizations and lower costs than you will find at Ontario landfills the fees are nothing too shocking.

Sports and Recreation

Like many other municipalities, Gatineau offers a wide range of sports facilities and halls built on the city's dime. Swimming pools, tennis courts, hockey arenas, baseball diamonds, and parks all abound within the city. Not a lot different than what you left behind when you put your home for sale in Toronto Canada, but prices tend to be cheaper in Gatineau.

Access Gatineau Card

Of course, those prices can be negated altogether if you hold an Access Gatineau card. This card can be used at the city's public library by anyone (so it comes in handy if you are researching search engine marketing, Canada's wildlife, or the solar system). In addition, youth under 18 can use the card for access to any of the city's recreational facilities, for free. For $20, adult residents can enjoy access with just their card as well.

By Law Enforcement

Living peaceably with one's neighbours is so typical of this country that it should be registered with a Canada trademark office. However, there are some times when you and the people in your neighbourhood will not see eye to eye. Fortunately, the city of Gatineau provides a range of by law officers and negotiators who can lend a hand when personal talks break down!

Bike Share Service

In an effort to cut down on downtown traffic and help the environment at the same time, the city of Gatineau has implemented the Bike Share program. Conceived of in Europe, this program allows Gatineau residents the chance to rent bikes from different spots in the city when they need to make a quick trip to a close location. The program reduces pollution while at the same time creating revenue to fund other municipal green initiatives!

No matter where you currently live, the city of Gatineau is a great place to consider when relocating. To Toronto residents, the services and atmosphere of this city are not much different from what you are leaving behind. The biggest difference is, thanks to a lot of funding, the cost of services in Gatineau is not nearly as high for the individual user.
