Learn French

Whenever people dream about visiting Paris after retiring from their class action lawsuits Canada career and seeing the Eiffel tower or eating a French baguette in a quaint little sidewalk French boutique restaurant they tend to romanticize it in their head. So much so that when they finally do arrive in Paris, France they tend to forget one of the most important things they would need in order to enjoy the city. Speaking French. Sure, that's not the case just in Paris but all over the world. You go to visit a foreign city in a foreign land and can't understand a single word everybody says. You might try to hold a conversation but confuse what one person is saying and all of a sudden you've bought yourself a used fish tank filter.

Which is why it's most definitely in your best interest to learn a little French before you go visit Paris. It's even doubly important to learn French if you plan to move there or to a city in Quebec such as Gatineau. Both the French languages in Paris, France and Gatineau, Quebec are a tad different so you're going to want to make sure you learn the proper French needed. If you want to travel or live in Gatineau there are a variety of ways to learn the French language. Just like there are ways to learn the differences between various Canadian ETFs. The easiest way to do so is by signing up for a French language course in the city you currently live in.

There are plenty of places that offer language courses. You can go to your local community centre as they most likely have a 'how to learn French' seminar going on amongst all the various tutorials they have. Since community centres are there to give back to the community, the courses will be either free or very cheap so you don't have to worry too much about spending all of your EI refund Canada cheque in one place.

Another place that might potentially offer classes that will teach you to speak and read French is the local college. Colleges are always offering courses or programs aimed at teaching people life skills. Skills that don't require years of study and a degree or diploma. While you won't be able to teach your own class after you're done, you should be able to hold a conversation in French or read a real estate training guide written entirely in French.

Learning the French language before moving to Gatineau, Quebec will go a long way in helping you enjoy your time there. Eventually, speaking and reading French will become second nature to you. If you ever do decide to travel to Paris later on, you won't find yourself in any confusing situations either.
